My perfect Englishman

When Scott and I first met, we both shared an instant dislike for each other. That was at University and a timeline that spans over 24 years.

In that time and through mutual friends, Scott and I become close friends and along with our wider circle of friends, an integral part of a family of friends. Scott was like a brother and I miss him.

I have a lot of memories of my time spent in Scott's company, but the one I think back on most, is during the summer of 2018 when my family and I were in beautiful Whitstable on the Kent coast.

One evening, Scott and I met up for a post sunset drink. Looking out towards the calm sea, I recall how peaceful and happy he was and how happy I was to be there sharing a drink with my friend. We spoke about life, the ups and downs, the good and the bad and of course, Brexit!

Scott was kind, intelligent, witty, political, thoughtful, handsome, charming, debonair and as with all of us, flawed. However, attributes and flaws in hand made Scott approachable, real and deeply loved. I joked with Scott that he resembled Bryan Ferry of Roxy Music, but to me he was my perfect Englishman.
